My First Decent Dress

Finally, I did it. I completed a decent looking dress that's wearable and is made from decent fabric! I'm pretty darn proud of myself. Take a look.

It might not be an amazing dress, but I'm still happy. :]

I got some fabric from WalMart, and the lady messed up and gave it all to me for $1.50.
I'm hoping to make another dress.

Here are a few websites with great DIY ideas:

Rose Cameo Ring Inspired Nails

Here is a tutorial on my nails that i just did, inspired by the ring i was wearing.
Here is a picture of all the colors you'll need:
The second picture is a nail art pen, but you can use gold nail polish with a tiny paint brush or toothpick.

First paint your nails a neutral color, white or a pearl off white will work fine. Do enough coats so the nail is solid.

Add a clear coat on top of the base, I used Sally Hanson Insta Dry, anti chip top coat.
Wait a few minutes so it dries completely.

Now we will start the flower design on our thumb.
You'll want to have 3 different shades of pink ( or any color you'd like). A light, medium, and dark shade are what you want.

Start with the medium shade and with a paintbrush make a flower like shape.

Now with the dark and lighter shades, you want to create some highlights and shadows on the flower to make it look more realistic. They can be randomly placed, mine were.

With your green color you want to make some leaves, so just blot some green by the flowers.

It's looking pretty good so far, right?

Now let that dry really well ( if not it's going to smudge together to make a big mess!).
You can then put clear on top of that, or move on to the rest of your nails.

For the rest of your nails, you want to make a scallop pattern around the top, approximately 4 "scallops" per nail, with the exception of the pinky, i could only fit 3.

This is what the pattern looks like (sorry for my crude paint example).
You can add the dashes in between the scallop pattern, but you don't have to.

After the designs dry add a coat of clear on top!

I added the scalloped pattern to the nail with the flowers, but you certainly don't have to. :]

And tada! Rose Cameo Nails! Just be sure to take care of the design by putting a coat of clear on about everyday.

Thanks for checking out this tutorial, hopefully there will be more.
And i'm sorry for my horrible picture quality.

I'd love to see everyone's variations  on this design!

Inspiration

Well i took a trip to the mall today, to exchange some things, and found a lot of things to inspire me :]

I found an adorable lace necklace at Charlotte Russe.
And i just received a piece with two lace bunnies kissing, that i plan on making into a necklace now.

This adorable top is from urban outfitters i believe. I'd like to recreate it, with some bead work as well.
I don't think i'll even attempt to tackle this, but i still think these are sooo cute:
Upon searching the glorious internet, i found this gem, and I cant wait to make my own.

Lately..

Well things haven't been going too well, my sewing machine broke :'( and although i found a replacement, it has no power cord :[[ and until i can get that all straightened out i can sew no more.

I have been making some earrings though:

This is a necklace i made by cutting some fake leather material i had left over.

Hopefully if  i ever get a new sewing machine i'd like to try to recreate some things:
This dress from Forever 21

Some shorts like these with this awesome blue victorian toile fabric i have:

I'd really like to make a baggy lace tank to go over basics

And maybe a neat little crop vest.

Although i cant sew at the moment i'd like to get back into tie-dying with spray paint and silk screening on top of that.
Here's an example of spray paint tiedye :
